The Outreach Program is offered to aid young mothers who do not need residential services but can benefit from practical, physical, and spiritual needs to support them in their decision to choose life for their babies. The Outreach Program serves young mothers who are either going through pregnancy or already have young children. Young mothers may join the Outreach program before their youngest child is 21 months old. By being involved in the Outreach Program, mothers are expected to learn parenting, nutrition, life, and leadership skills to exceed self-sufficiently. Each year a number of topics are covered through Outreach programming.
Outreach Programming Classes Offered through the Light House:
Parenting
Choosing Quality Daycare, Infant CPR, Car Seat Safety, Love and Logic/Discipline, Infant Massage, Brain Development/Ages and Stages, Library Resources/Reading with Your Child, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Child Abuse Prevention
Nutrition/Health Care
Drug Abuse Prevention, Process of Labor/Preparation for Childbirth, Immunizations, Lead Poisoning Prevention, Infant Baby Feeding, Food Safety, Childhood Obesity, Nutrition During Pregnancy, Healthy Food Choices on a Budget
Life Skills/Leadership Development
Healthy Self-Esteem, Leadership in the Home (Budgeting, Finance, Education), Car Safety, Job Readiness (Finding Application, Resume Writing, Interviewing), Basic Self-Defense, Finding Safe Housing, Anger Management, Abstinence/Healthy Relationships, Abortion/Adoption Awareness, Personal Testimonies
Bible Study
Bible Study topics are relevant to young adults and topics covered include: developing an identity in Christ, Godly parenting, prayer, God’s love, healing from painful relationships, abstinence, Godly relationships, and the importance of a healthy, God-centered support group.
Schedule
An evening at Outreach consists of approximately two hours. A sample evening timeline is as follows:
5:30-5:45pm Residential Clients shop in Baby’s Boutique
5:45-6:15pm Outreach Program Clients are able to shop in Baby’s Boutique and eat snacks/visit before class begins.
6:15-7:15pm Education Class
7:15-8:00pm Bible Study
The Baby Boutique
Ladies who attend our Outreach Program and ladies who stay in our Maternity Home are able to earn coupons for participation, which they can use to purchase items in our Baby Boutique. They can purchase items like diapers, wipes, bottles, strollers, car seats, clothes, and more. Visit our Baby Boutique to learn more.
